Celebrating Progress
on Plaza Drive

Members of the California Transportation Commission joined the celebration of the improvements to Plaza Drive and Highway 198 in April. The CTC members were in Tulare County for a Town Hall forum and toured projects in Visalia and Tulare to see first-hand how local agencies are wisely investing State funding into significant transportation projects.

5-Year Expenditure Plan

The Tulare County Association of Governments is developing the next 5-year Expenditure Plan, which is the master plan for the delivery of projects from fiscal year 2012-2013 through 2016-2017. This plan will be updated every two years, evaluating the scope, cost and schedule of all
projects planned.

The plan is now in its draft form, and copies are available by calling TCAG at 623-0450.

Plaza Drive/Highway 198 funded

Massive improvements to the very busy intersection of Plaza Drive and Highway 198
are under way.

The total project cost is $26 million, which represents a combination of State Transportation Improvement Program funds, City of Visalia funds, Measure R, and federal Economic Development Administration funds.

The project will widen the bridge from the current three lanes to 7 lanes, which will greatly improve access for the trucks that service Visalia’s growing Industrial Park.

What is Measure R

A one-half cent sales tax approt is making possible major improvements to Tulare County’s transportation system – from major roads to potholes, from bike paths to buses. More>
